LIFESTYLE NEWBORN SESSION

These take place in your home or in a local photography studio as a lifestyle session. Parents and siblings are involved in this session as it is about capturing growing and developing relationships with the newest member of your family. It is about preserving the newness of your baby so you can look back to remember every detail of just how tiny they were, how fragile, squishy, and innocent. They change so quickly in just the first few weeks that it's hard to remember they were ever so little. Wardrobe consultation, use of my prop closet, and travel within 35 mile radius of Bellingham, WA is included. Sessions are up to 2 hours to accommodate the unpredictability of newborns with soothing and changing. Ideally, these sessions take place within 2 weeks of birth.

MATERNITY SESSION

Come to my studio for a wardrobe consultation to try on my client closet of maternity gowns. Celebrate your body and your blessing. Families are welcome to participate in the session to capture those last moments before everything changes. Wardrobe consultation outside of my client closet and location consultation is included as well as travel within 35 mile radius of Bellingham, WA. Sessions are up to 60 minutes.

FAMILY SESSION

Whether it is in-home or outdoors, just be present with your children. My focus is capturing love and connection between family members. Play with your children, snuggle them, smell them, tickle them, whisper secrets in their ears, and remember them in this moment. Wardrobe and location consultation is included as well as travel within 35 mile radius of Bellingham, WA. Sessions are up to 60 minutes and are intended for a single nuclear family. Capture your child's personality. This is the session of their dreams where kids get to make all the faces and take the photos THEY want to truly showcase their personalities. With only one child per 15 minute session, they will be the star for this quick and fun experience. I will guide them through a series of prompts and questions to bring out different expressions. Afterward, I make a nine-image collage of the expressions you choose from your gallery. This is a special studio event offered periodically throughout the year. FAQ

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I'm based in Bellingham, WA. I travel within a 40 mile radius of Bellingham for sessions, but if you want me to photograph your story outside of that, feel free to reach out! It will require a small travel fee, but I would love to explore new locations!

How many pictures will we receive?

You will receive an online gallery with all of the hand-edited photos that make the cut from your session. This is typically 50-80 photos per session.

Where and when do sessions take place?

I have several locations within Whatcom and Skagit counties that I love to work with. The first thing I look for when scouting new locations is the way the light hits in the evening. Light is the most important element to my photos. Because of this, I schedule all my outdoor sessions in the 1-2 hours before sunset for the best possible light. During the summer months, this can get pretty late with the sun setting after 9:00. This would mean a start time of around 7:30.

Families with young kids, try not to panic! I promise you that allowing your kids to stay up late out in the open air to play with their parents, siblings, and someone new will be an extra special treat that can actually make them more accepting of the experience. Approach it as an extra special adventure! However, if you are really concerned about a late evening session, you can always wait to book in the early spring or fall when the sun sets earlier in the day.

When will we get our photos?

You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within three weeks of our session date. Often times, I can get them to you sooner depending on the season. Once you receive your gallery, you can share photos, choose your favorites, and order professional prints directly from your gallery!

What if my partner or kids hate having family photos taken?

Deep breaths. How you react will have a huge impact on how they react. Approach it as special time to spend with your family, snuggling, playing, and exploring. I will do my best to keep it light, fun, and playful.

Even if you think the session is going terribly wrong, I'm probably still getting amazing shots. Just keep your cool and trust that it will be okay. If all else fails, these photos will capture the season you are in. However it turns out, you will appreciate the story later on.

During our own family photos, my son refused to smile in a way that wasn't horribly awkward, and all he wanted to do was point to the sky, with the other hand on his hip like a superhero. I was boiling inside because he wasn't cooperating, but I did my best to just go with the flow and trust our photographer. When we received our photos, I was amazed at what she was able to capture that I couldn't see in that moment. Sure, there were the pointing photos and some really awkward smiles, but there were also really beautiful photos. Altogether, I love that they tell the story of where we were in that season of life.

But seriously, remove all expectations, go with the flow, deep breaths, don't stress, and bribe them (partners, too).
